About who needs care: My mom has mild to somewhat moderate cognitive deficits. Specifically, short term memory and problem solving/execution type deficits. She had wherewithal and if functional, but adls and iadls have become significantly more difficult for her to manage. My dad is still working but also having a hard time being the primary caregiver for the entire day. Its been emotionally demanding. My mom like to walk, be outside, garden, puzzles. She enjoys simple painting and is good at art if someone sets her up and does with her. She used to cook a lot but doesnt anymore. Shes not currently driving which she is upset with so she may need to run errands .. About the care needs: Someone good with adults with memory deficits. There are a lot of repeat questions which can get frustrating so we need someone who can handle that well. Kind, patient and someone who can execute an activity... come up with things to do. My Mom wont say she wants to do anything and might be frustrated that someone is in her house. She does not think she needs help. But she does. She needs someone else to encourage her to do something. Doesnt necessarily want a caregiver, so we need the presence of this person to feel like a friend/companion. I know it will really help my dad too. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
