We are seeking someone to work within the VA's Veteran's Directed Care Program (VDC). Meaning they would be employed by us to care for my Mom and Dad, but paid by the VA. This comes with minimum requirements. The qualified candidate must pass a BCI background check and provide documentation of citizenship and proof of residency. Mom and Dad need presence more than constant care. Dad had a major stroke resulting in blindness and deficiency on his left side. He is cognitively alert and aware. Mom has dementia, but is pretty self-sufficient, and most days one wouldn't know she is affected. They live with my wife and me, and we are looking for respite hours to get our work done and have some time away, occasionally overnight. They are delightful people who love conversation, watching the news and gameshows, and listening to birds on the deck.
