About who needs care: My dad is 80- years old and has the early symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease and can no longer drive but in great physical shape. We don't feel comfortable leaving him alone. My mom is 76 and has health limitations of her own. She is a heart transplant patient of 20+ years and with a prosthetic leg. She uses a wheelchair to maneuver around the house, and is able to drive. We are trying to find some relief for my mom so she can go to her workout classes etc for a few hours 2-3 days a week. I am one of 2 daughters - I live in Los Angeles and my sister lives in Pennsylvania and with the distance, it is very hard for us to assist. My dad is mostly showing signs of forgetfulness, frustration with limitations at times, difficulty with recall and vocabulary when speaking at times but has a lot of life to live and vivasious! About the care needs: We are looking for a caregiver who enjoys conversations, patient, willing to transport my dad to the gym, Home Depot, the grocery store, engage with him on simple home projects and cooking, things he used to enjoy and is not longer doing but capable with assistance. To help my mom run simple errands like picking up prescriptions, groceries, gassing up the car Services needed include: transportation, and companionship.
