I've been a Certified Nursing Assistant caring for the Elderly Dementia most of my 14 year career. I did work in Rehab for three years in between. however, I do prefer working with dementia patients as I feel that is where my expertise lie. I am currently working Monday through Friday 7a-3p with Agape Hospice out of Greenville, So where I received my Hospice and Palliative Care Apprenticeship with them. I am a Christian I attend church regularly, and I feel like working with dementia patients/residents is the mission field God has called me to. I was also recently diagnosed with an Anxiety disorder. As a result, I feel I am more attuned to my patients behavior wise as I can recognize some of the same symptoms in them that I struggle with and can quickly assess and determine if maybe One of their five senses-touch, hear, see, taste, smell) is being over-stimulated. I also train in Martial Arts to help control the aforementioned Anxiety and has made me a more confident person.
