He has performed in many top ensembles and programs in Texas and around the United States, including the Druid City Opera Workshop program at The University of Alabama, Chicago Summer Opera, Lamar University Opera Theatre, Lamar University Acapella Choir, Sam Houston State University Opera Workshop and top choral ensemble, as well as The Texas All State Choir in 2012. As well as opera, Rene has also performed roles in Musical Theatre as well. He is a well-rounded musician, and his teaching philosophy is to find what works for the student and to tailor each lesson to every individual voice. He has studied the voice and vocal pedagogy for many years individually and through university courses and independent studies through his vocal instructor, Dr. Jammieca Mott, DMA. Over the years, she developed her skills further by joining her school’s orchestra program all through middle and high school. She gained performance experience in the Woodlands area by playing at such venues as Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and with acts such as musical theater orchestras. Though MacKenzie can teach many genres of music, her musical personal favorites are classical and country which had great influence on her style of playing.MacKenzie loves music because it is her outlet of expression when works fail and loves teaching music because she loves pushing her students to be the best as her directors pushed her.
