Years of Experience: 46 years Overall Music Ex Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 25 Genres: Jazz, Classical, Acoustic, Christian Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Keyboard and Piano Lessons Overview: Hello! I began studying piano around the age of 5. Singing was a normal part of our household,, so I fell in love with harmonies at a very young age. Other instruments that I've studied are piano, flute and some percussion; the flute piano became my focus besides singing. With piano and flute, I have played in my high school jazz band, various pit bands for music theater, and in some Nashville, TN recording studios. Vocally, I have recorded with several groups and bands, did demo work for several songwriters, and have sung both lead and back-up in several bands including: cover bands, contemporary gospel groups, family groups, church bands/praise teams, and choirs. I hold an Associates Degree in Music-vocal concentration and have performed in various venues here in the States as well as in Paris, France. I am very experienced in both vocal and instrumental performance and have a passion for spreading the love of music to others. In addition, I have done some research into music therapy, but I am NOT a licensed music therapist. I truly believe in the power of music to help in many different ways in and out of a school setting. I am currently teaching privately and would love to assist others on their musical journeys! David's Music Lessons (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Orchestral, Piano, Song Writing)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    El Paso, TX

Years of Experience: 15 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 10 Genres: Rock, Classical, Country, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Bass Guitar Lessons,Keyboard and Piano Lessons,Song Writing Lessons,Orchestral Lessons Overview: I've been playing music since the second grade. I started on violin and made my way to the upright bass in High School. Over the years I've also picked up how to play the piano and guitar. My philosophy in teaching is to create a good foundation. Too often, young musicians are taught how to play the notes but not how to make music. Skills that are essential to musicianship are put on the side lines in public education. With every lesson the focus wouldn't be on just the instrument, but also on training the ears and voice. These universal skills will improve every facet of musicality. Formal Education: At J.M. Hanks High School I was the president of the Orchestra. In 2009 I also founded the Hanks chapter of TFMEA (Texas Future Music Educators Association). I have gone on to study music education at the University of Texas at El Paso. Private Education: During high school I took my first private lessons with Mr. Robert Taylor (One the bassists in the El Paso Symphony Orchestra). For the first time I was in a one on one teaching experience and it greatly improved my playing. I am currently taking private lessons with Professor Erik Unsworth at UTEP. Performing Experience: I've been performing in orchestras since I was 8. I have played with the EPSYO. I am currently in the Utep Symphony Orchestra and Utep Symphonic Winds. I have had experience in small chamber ensembles and a few jazz bands. On the side I also have a rock group, and have been performing with various ones for the past few years. Lastly, I have about 5 years of experience as a praise and worship leader for St. Marks United Methodist Church. Experience Teaching: In 2010 I taught many music classes at UTEP's P3 summer camp. Each class was a week long course that would meet for three hours a day. The classes consisted of 10-20 students from all different ages (6-17). There I taught Guitar, Choir, and Orchestra. Interwoven with the guitar class were history of rock lessons. During which, we would look at the different playing styles across different genres. I also have experience giving one on one private bass lessons.

Ms. Amalia worked as a teaching artist with Tocando from the early stages of our program back in September of 2013 through July of 2015. During Ms. Amalia's employment with EPSO and Tocando, she displayed a remarkable sense of community and a strong character - able to create strong bonds with her students and adapt to changes quickly. Ms. Amalia has a unique teaching style which makes her students feel at ease and have fun while learning both theory and technique. Ms. Amalia has played a crucial role in Tocando's success and continues providing support to our students by volunteering occasionally for special projects such as the "Terrific Trumpet Trio" in which three former Tocando students, led by Ms. Amalia joined our Strings Orchestra for a concert at the El Paso Museum of Art. Ms. Amalia has been a remarkable teaching artist with Tocando and I am convinced that she would be a great asset to your organization!
