In this exciting engineering course, students will explore the world of simple and complex machines through hands-on engineering challenges. From building pulley-powered lifts and spinning windmills to constructing hydraulic bridges and simple motors, young engineers will discover how force, energy and motion work together to make amazing things move. Each week brings a new mission that tests creativity, problem-solving and teamwork. By the end of the course, students will put their skills to the ultimate test, by designing their own Mega Machine that combines everything they’ve learned! Get ready to embark on an underwater adventure in this hands-on, action-packed after-school class where we’ll uncover the secrets of the deep blue sea. Students will learn the science of submarines, master the mysteries of buoyancy, and take on fun engineering challenges. We'll start by creating your very own Cartesian diver—a mini submarine that rises and sinks on command! Then, put your creativity and problem-solving skills to the test with buoyancy battles: Can you build a floating platform that holds the most weight? Or design an object that sinks just right? From experiments with density to understanding how submarines dive and surface, projects will bring you closer to thinking like a real marine scientist.
