Ceramics Classes in Walnut Creek, CA

In this 6-week ceramics class, young artists will dive into the exciting world of clay! Over the course of 1.5 hours each week, students will learn the full ceramic process, from shaping their own creations to understanding how firing and glazing bring their work to life. Throughout the course, artists will explore a mix of hand-building techniques such as coiling, slab building, and pinch pots, as well as beginning to learn pottery wheel skills; all while letting their creativity run wild. By the end of the class, students will not only have a collection of unique, personalized pieces but also a deeper knowledge of the craft, building a strong foundation to continue developing their ceramic skills in future classes. The class is designed for all skill levels, so whether it’s your child’s first time working with clay or they’ve already joined in classes with us, there’s always plenty more to learn and create. Details: 1.5 hours per week, for 6 weeks All materials (clay, tools, and supplies) are included in the registration fee Please note: Make-up classes and prorated fees are not available. Let’s get messy and have fun making art! Due to the time extensive process of ceramics not all pieces will be finished by the last day of class. We will send an email notice within a couple of weeks of the class ending to let you know when pieces are ready for pick up.

Students will not only learn different hand-building techniques such as coiling, pinch pots, slab work, carving, and sculptural embellishments, but also how to glaze with underglazes. Artist's who have taken this course with us will be able to continue building on their skills and knowledge as our projects are always changing, and we continue building a foundation of ceramic knowledge. The class is 1 hour once per week for 6 weeks. The registration fee includes clay, use of tools and supplies. Please note that we are unable to offer make-up classes, nor a pro-rate for future missed classes. Due to the time-intensive process of ceramics, not all pieces will be ready to take home on the last day of class. We will send an email notice within a couple of weeks of the class ending to let you know when pieces are ready for pick up.

Please note that we are unable to offer make-up classes, nor a pro-rate for future missed classes. Once the session is over you will receive an email notice that the ceramic pieces have completed their glaze firing and are ready for pick up. This typically takes a week or two after the session wraps up.

Camp is a great way for artists to try out the ceramics medium if they are thinking about joining a session of classes, and also just a fantastic way to spend some of that time away from school doing something educational and fun! Campers will learn different hand-building techniques to create different ceramic sculptures, as well as try out the pottery wheel. Campers will learn about the ceramic process from wet clay to finished ceramic, including the firing & glaze processes. All tools and clay are included in the registration fee. Please note that due to the nature of ceramics and the firing process, camper's artworks will not be ready to take home on the last day, but will need to be picked up at a later date. Class Description:
This teen art class is designed for teens who are ready to begin exploring their creative potential and how to start developing their own artistic voice. Students will be introduced to, and encouraged to explore, a variety of mediums—including drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, and collage—while receiving personalized guidance from an experienced instructor. Whether they're interested in building their technical skills or discovering thier own unique style, this class offers the freedom to experiment and create at your own pace. New teen students will complete three pre-designed projects with their teacher's guidance to help aid them in learning how to set-up/clean-up supplies and materials, get a feel for what mediums are available, and allow teachers to get a feel for the student's level of skill and art knowledge. What They’ll Learn: Medium Exploration: Gain hands-on experience with a wide range of art forms, including pencil and charcoal drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, clay sculpture, printmaking, and collage techniques. Project Development: Learn how to conceptualize, plan, and execute your own independent projects. With teacher support, they’ll refine your ideas and bring them to life. Creative Techniques: Develop new skills in various artistic techniques, from layering and texture in mixed media to the technical aspects of ceramics and printmaking. Self-Expression: Find their own voice and style as they experiment with different materials and approaches to art-making. Critique & Feedback: Receive constructive feedback from the instructor and peers in a supportive and open environment to enhance their artistic process and growth. Who This Class Is For: Both new and continuing students. Teens ages 12-17 who are eager to create art more independently but want guidance, structure, and inspiration from a teacher.
