Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour

    5.0 (7)

    Powered by Viator

    Savannah, GA

This was Shannon Scott's original 1990's tour that started everything! Colonial Park Cemetery serves as the biggest story graveyard in the whole Historic District! Its the oldest patch of city land one can visit and where you'll see materials far older than the surrounding Victorian City. In Savannah's colonial hours, this is where every town meeting, picnic, wedding, duel and public execution was conducted! Eventually it would be the final resting place of Gen Nathanael Greene, 2 signers of The Declaration of Independence, merchants, priests, paupers, soldiers and just about every character that gave blood, sweat and tears to the early colony and later nation. Less we forget how Yellow Fever turned it all into a mass grave resulting in the permanent closure in 1853. Discussions also extend to the Root Doctor culture ritualism, The Old City Jail, Conrad Aiken Birthplace, Dueling Grounds and all complete with visual images to enhance the experience.

Private Savannah Medical History Walking Tour

    4.9 (17)

    Powered by Viator

    Savannah, GA

This is Savannah's only walking tour that covers Savannah's lengthy medical history from plagues that almost destroyed the fledgling colony, to a pandemic a century later that seemingly passed over the city's enslaved population, to the foundation of a soft drink giant. Given by a working Registered Nurse the tour attempts to be an inclusive look at the contributions the city's multi-ethnic population made to medicine and the city's survival. I'm still in our first year, and were recently featured on Georgia Public Broadcasting. I can't update my availability on trip advisor to match my schedule as closely as I would like. Savannah's Original Dark History Tour

    4.9 (62)

    Powered by Viator

    Savannah, GA

We pride ourselves on fact-based history. That's why we don't give ghost tours. Savannah has so much dark history that we don't need to make up any! This tour begins with a brutal duel that took place in a bar that still exists to this day. We'll move on to discuss Savannah's first murder. You'll see the site of the colony's first cemetery and the grave of a Native who was crucial to Georgia's success. We'll visit the location where a more recent serial killer met a victim, then discuss Colonial Park Cemetery's past and present. Savannah saw a great deal of tragedy during the Revolution, and you'll learn about the toll it took. We'll tie things up at the site of a killing that ironically put Savannah on the pop culture map and helped lead to its booming tourist industry today. Please note that though some local ghost tours have recently rebranded themselves as "dark history" tours, we are the original! This is Savannah's only fact-based evening tour.
