My name is Jonathan and I am a graduate student at Northern Ilinois University. My main instrument is the saxophone, but I also double on flute and clarinet. I received my undergraduate degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in classical saxophone performance. While there, I was able to play with numerous groups and was lucky enough to travel and play my saxophone. Some of the travels I have seen are, Baltimore, Maryland, Memphis, Tennessee, and Chicago, Illinois, where I played at Buddy Guy's esteemed club, "Legends." In addition to the travels, I have been featured with my undergraduate wind ensemble. I was able to tour the Midwest as their featured soloist. I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach and get to know you through the wonderful experience of music. I have been a student of music for 18 years. I love teaching the fundamentals of percussion and Performing. My teaching style can best be described as easy-going. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I want you to be the best you can be. In my lessons, you can expect to learn the fundamentals of percussion through advance performance. I like to tell my students that each of us has our own path and artistic voice. My favorite thing about teaching is the joy in communicating through music. My favorite performance was touring in Costa Rica. My students love that I like to have fun and give them the freedom to find their own voice. I primarily teach Concert Percussion, but I can also teach drum set. My approach as a teacher is to let me students make progress at their own pace. Thanks for taking a look at my profile.
