Music is my passion and I love to share my passion and knowledge in music with other people. I am very laid back and believe music is and should enjoyable at all times. Through my experience in performing and teaching, I specialize in teaching any kind of drumming to any person, in any walk of life. Whether it be someone trying to become an all-star musician or someone who is just looking to have some fun and learn a couple things about playing drums. I can accommodate for anyone. I am wanting to be an Elementary music teacher and I have a lot of experience with high school and middle school ages and also adults. My entire goal in music and teaching is to give back to others the incredibly positive experience music has to offer. Formal Education: I am a junior at Florida Southern College and will be graduating in the fall of 2014. I am on the Dean's list with a 3.94 GPA. I am the lead drum set player in all ensembles at Florida Southern. Private Education: I have studied with Paul Butcher in basic musicality and jazz musicianship. Also with Ian Goodman in jazz/fusion drumming. (Paul Butcher a highly revered musician that has played and has a ton experience in Nashville. Ian Goodman also a very highly revered drum set player that has traveled the country playing.) Performing Experience: I have a very broad spectrum of performance experience. I have been playing for 6-7 years and started in church and have played for numerous churches in the Winter Haven and Lakeland area including Highland Park Church of the Nazarene of Lakeland. I have performed with hard rock bands and currently a part of a two country bands and two jazz combos. To list a few groups/artists I have experience with; Along Side Angles(Hard Rock), A View from the East Coast(Punk/Alternative Rock) Chris Choto(Country), John Rhey(Country), Zach Rogers Quartet(Jazz Combo), Paul Butcher Quartet(Jazz Combo), Florida Southern Steel Drum Band, Florida Southern Contemporary Percussion ensemble, Florida Southern Jazz Combo Group, Florida Southern Jazz Big Band. I also had the opportunity of playing with Lawrence Willis(pianist of Blood, Sweat and Tears and Soundtrack artist/pianist for the Major motion picture "Blues Brothers"), and also featured a drum battle with Dick Maley and also had the opportunity to share the stage with country music artist Michael Ray. Experience Teaching: I have been giving private lessons in the Lakeland area for 2 years and currently, for the past three years, the on staff drum line clinician/teacher at Auburndale High School, which has placed top 5 the past two years in Florida in their division. I have had success in teaching drum line students for almost four years. I have five yearsrsquo; experience on concert style percussion including marimba, percussion accessories, concert snare playing, glockenspiel, xylophone and vibes. I have most experience teaching drum set (8 years), which is my strong suit by far. I can teach a vast range of students from very basic music/drum notation to very in-depth music theory.

Over the years, he developed his skills further by performing in many genres including classical, jazz, and bluegrass. He gained performance experience in the central Florida area by playing with acts such as The Applebutter Express, The Brian Sutherland Band, and We Three Strings. Though Zachary can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are jazz and classical, which had a great influence on his style of playing. Zachary loves music because of the joy it brings to players and listeners alike and loves teaching music to help students understand the performing arts.
