At a young age, Gandhi started taking piano and music theory lessons in the prestigious Dina Music Education School (1990-1994). Later on, he decided to study Drums in addition to Piano and joined in the Mubarak Music School in 1998. Gandhi continued learning on Drums and music, attending particular classes with the Dominican drummer Ezequiel Francisco from 1999-2000, from whom he acquired great influence. In the year of 2002, Gandhi joined Wellington Valenzuela, who tutored him in his drum studies. Through the years, he has played with well known bands in the Dominican Republic, becoming one of the most influential drummers in the young generation, with different approaches in his music such as jazz, Latin, reggae, rock, Dominican Folk among others. In 2003, he joined the Dominican rock band TKR, in which he stayed until late 2007. He recorded two albums with TKR, Inertia (2005) and Lienzo (2007). In 2006, TKR was nominated to the Maximum Arts Award of the Dominican Republic, the Casandra Awards, for best rock band. In the year of 2007, he started to study Contemporary Harmony, Jazz Composition and Arranging, with the Dominican teacher and Guitar player, Francisco Javier Vargas. Along with his music, Gandhi studied Law (2003-2008), and holds a Bachelor Degree in Law from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (2008). In August of 2008, he auditioned for Berklee College of Music, in which he was accepted with a scholarship. He started his studies at Berklee in spring of 2009 pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Music Majoring in Contemporary Writing and Production/Performance. While in the College, Gandhi has played/worked for many ensembles and labs for the Vocal Department, such as: Rhythm and Grooves ensembles, Advanced Latin-Jazz vocal performance, The Great American Songbook, The New Group, Rehearsal Techniques for vocalist (Lab), Advance Vocal Improvisation Techniques, etc. For the Ensemble Department, he has played in many of the Rating Auditions as an accompanist during the Fall 2009, Spring 2010 and Fall 2010 semester. He also has worked for the Guitar Department, as an Accompanist during the 5 week program on Summer of 2010, Fall 2010 and Summer 2011 Semester.
