I've been singing since I was 15; I got into it because I found it therapeutic yet challenging. I've been singing with others and recording a cappella covers, as well as developing original vocals, for over 5 years. I mostly produce lyrics and vocals for rock and electronic music. I have some jazz and RB singing ability too. My teaching style can best be described as lighthearted but disciplined. Enjoying the process comes first. That enjoyment leads to continuous growth and improvement. In my lessons, you can expect to learn breath control, range identification, diaphragm usage, belting, lyrical ideation, song structuring, and more. My favorite thing about teaching is watching my students grasp the concepts that they've been pushing themselves to learn. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon! Private Education: I started out by teaching myself how to sing. I began posting a cappella recordings on the internet through Vocalizr, through Looperman, and through instagram. A few of my connections on these platforms gave me advice on how to refine my lyrical abilities; they also gave me feedback on my sound. I applied their collective advice to my own self-critiquing and introspection to develop to my current point. Performing Experience: I've put out a song in conjunction with a SoundCloud and Vocalizr producer. You can listen to it by searching "darksurface kev my solitude" on SoundCloud. The reception was warm based on what people whom I shared the song with had to say. Other than that, I performed as a part of the Metro Atlanta Singing Group in mid-2018: I mostly sang bass and baritone. The group dissolved later that year, but I kept practicing, and making independent recordings, and looking for other people to make music with, which led to me meeting others online. Experience Teaching: I worked as a substitute teacher for half a year between late 2016 and early 2017. I taught a variety of subjects, but didn't teach music, and I oversaw the education of students ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade. When I'm singing around other people, I welcome and encourage their active participation in whatever I'm performing. Making music should feel natural and fluid, not forced and dogmatic.
