After Cathy Jean left the studio, the record company executives arranged for a local group called The Roommates to record the background vocal tracks. Although they hadn’t even met, Cathy Jean The Roommates were well on their way to a million-seller recording. After finally joining forces shortly thereafter, the group toured and enjoyed the fruits of their labors. "Please Love Me Forever" won Murray the K's Boss Record of the Week on WINS Radio in New York City in late 1960. The record entered the Billboard Hot 100 and soon reached number two in New York. The Roommates also enjoyed success with their recordings of “Glory of Love” and “Band of Gold”, which remain great crowd pleasers to this day.
