Good communication skills combined with patience are essential if the student is to have a rewarding experience. Of course if helps if the student wants to learn. For me, a significant part of learning guitar (or any instrument) is learning about music in general. It is my opinion that every musician should learn to read music, even if his or her favorite rock star boasts ignorance of the subject. After 38 years on the instrument, I am still not the world’s flashiest guitar player. My strength is my understanding of the fundamentals and my broad palette of techniques. I know what music is made of; the building blocks. For example, a student studying guitar with me is more likely to learn four different ways to play a D7sus chord than how to plug in a fuzz pedal. I am an especially appropriate guitar teacher for those students who are starting virtually from scratch and are in it for the long haul. * Formal Education: All school bands (jazz, marching)and orchestras as trumpet player. Private Education: Ihad private lessons in guitar, trumpet, voice, and piano. Performing Experience: I make a living as an independent musician in Los Angeles, the most competitive town on earth. Diversification has been the key to my success. As a performer I appear in a wide range of acts and venues: From Beatles tribute bands (I'm "George") to nursing homes for the elderly (I've performed solo at more than 100) to daycare centers for children. As an artist I have written, produced and recorded six full-length CDs of my original material. I have also transcribed and created lead sheets for more than 6,000 songs of other artist/writers.
