Raised singing and playing church music, Jonathan developed a musical passion at an early age and continues to channel that through sacred and secular genres today. As a conductor, he has had the privilege of directing collegiate ensembles for such schools as The University of Southern Mississippi, Texas State University, and The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. As a collaborative pianist, Jonathan has worked with wonderful musicians in collegiate, secondary, and sacred fields performing for solo and choral concerts, recitals, and services of worship. In the contemporary/pop field, Jonathan embraces opportunities to perform making him an eclectic and versatile musician collaborating to create a collage of contemporary and classical music, a unique aspect of his artistry. Jonathan’s music has taken him around the world conducting and performing throughout Europe, South Korea, Canada, and Mexico. Jonathan holds the Master of Music, the Bachelor of Music, the graduate certificate in worship leadership, and has completed coursework toward a doctorate in music and a doctorate in worship studies. He has held employment appointments with Texas Tech University, Angelina College, The University of Southern Mississippi, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Texas State University. Some of his noted pedagogues include conductors, Gregory A. Fuller, John Flanery, Joey Martin, Lynn Brinckmeyer, and David Guess, pianist, Robert Steinbauer, vocalist Guy Wilson, and theorists, Peter Martens, David Forrest, Matthew Santa, Lon Chaffin, Russell Riepe, and Joe Brumbeloe.
