I received NJ certification in classroom music, grades K-12 in 1973, but now realize after considerable experience in school music education, that my passion and greatest expertise lies in one-on-one piano instruction. My other strong area exists in church music: choir direction, playing the organ, and piano in service and rehearsal. I reinforced my musical competency significantly through non-matriculated coursework and organ studies at Westminster Choir College, 1986-1991. As a piano educator, I teach my students self-sufficiency at the piano, thorough understanding of music theory; and enthusiasm for music, through appreciation of composers and repertoire through the eras. I have traditionally featured my students -- adults, adolescents, and children -- in yearly recitals and Christmas/holiday performances. As a classroom music educator as well as one-on-one instructor, I emphasize music theory and appreciation, as well as performance; plus, the importance of daily practice, between lessons (one to two lessons a week).
