This explains my easy-going, "no problem" attitude. I have performed as a piano soloist at various venues around the world (churches, hotels, cruise ships, concert halls). Despite having had classical piano training via Trinity College of Music and the Royal Schools of Music at an early age, I have always appreciated music of every genre. So as a child I took the responsibility of learning to play other styles on my own. It quickly became obvious not only to me but to my fellow classical students that I had a huge advantage over all the other students in the real music world, because I could appeal to a much wider audience. Over the past 30 years I have stayed true to this concept in all things musical (including teaching). I have performed at many different venues all over the world (from hotels to cruise ships to concert halls). I have also taught many students around the world. Not every audience likes the same type of music so the performer has to be versatile. Similarly, not every student likes the same kind of music so the teacher should be able to adapt. The same thing applies to teaching methods. The same method doesn't work with every student. My teaching style is based on 3 of my core beliefs. (1) The student is the most important person in the class (This is why I do not force a particular method on every student. I adapt to each student's learning style). (2) Music should be fun (This is why I chose music that the student can relate to). (3) Every task can be easy or difficult. Every single task has a pattern that, if you know it, makes the task very easy. (This is why I reveal these patterns to my students and these patterns make them learn easily, naturally and rapidly.) (Most of my beginner students learn to play a complete song with both hands in their very first lesson! Why? PATTERNS). Formal Education: Trinity College of Music (London), Certification in Classical Piano Performance. The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (UK) Certification in Theory of Music. Performing Experience: Hotels, cruise ships, concerts from 1985 to the present. Experience Teaching: Various institutions internationally dating back to 1981.
