English, Math, Chinese Tutor

Hello! My name is Janet. I am a UT Austin McCombs school of business graduate majoring in Finance and Economics. I worked 3 years in renewable energy project financing, before transitioning to web and digital design. All my classes and projects are online and freelance, so I would love to use my free time to still apply my academic and professional knowledge. I've also had experience leading classes for US citizenship Chinese community center and Sunday school, which I both genuinely loved. My background is in Finance/Economics/Accounting, but I am definitely willing to refresh my memory on any subject needed including SAT's. As for extracurricular, I can teach elementary level Chinese, piano and tennis. I can cover babysitting needs such as cooking/cleaning if needed as well.

I have three kids and only wish Janet was able to tutor the first two like she did the last ( unfortunately for me Janet was probably still in middle school when my first two graduated). My son has gone through at least two other tutors and was only comfortable when I hired Janet. She has a way of teaching the material while keeping it interesting. My sons grades have drastically changed, he doesn't get upset when he knows he's going to tutoring, his teachers have all asked what has happened because his grades have improved so much since she started lessons with my son. I highly recommend Janet, she will not let your child down and you will see improvement very fast!

Tutoring Available In Math/Statistics/English/Test Prep From A NASA Statistician

Avg response < 9 hrs
I work full-time as a statistician for NASA and am eager to engage you/your son/your daughter in the exciting world of math! Cheesy? Yes. But I do believe people shouldn't fear math the way they fear a root canal. With a master's degree in statistics and many years of tutoring experience at all levels -- from elementary school to working professionals, you'll be confident I have the expertise to help you/your child succeed. I also bring a side of comedy and a personality that will keep you engaged. I often hear people complain that math/stats is too difficult or tell me I'm lucky I'm naturally good at math. No matter how smart you are, math requires dedication and patience. Maybe I'm old school, but in a world of instant gratification, I still believe practice makes perfect; there are no shortcuts. But it CAN be fun, and real world examples make lessons feel relevant. I also help with test prep, study skills, and general studies. I charge $70 per hour plus a variable travel fee.

Shari is amazing! I needed help with my graduate level Statistics course and she helped me SO MUCH. She is extremely knowledgeable about all things Statistics and did a really good job of meeting me where I was at knowledge wise. She was able to work with my hectic work/school schedule to accommodate me and took as much time to work out homework problems as I needed. She truly cared about my future career path as well and was able to give me some valuable advice there too. All in all, Shari saved me during this course and I am forever grateful!
