Caregiver For Seniors (General Assistance, Meal Preparation, Companionship, Etc.)
Caring for seniors over the past six years has provided opportunities to help them feel important and worthwhile again. Many of those I have cared for have been depressed, suffered from Dementia, Alzheimer's, physical discomfort, loneliness, or just the inability to be independent. I enjoy assisting seniors to help them remain as independent as possible.
If they are supposed to be walking/exercising, I encourage that and help them accomplish those tasks whenever possible. Many times they just want someone to listen and care. Seeing them thrive again is so very rewarding.
Of course, I do meal preparation, errands, outings, light housekeeping, medication reminders and such as part of the overall responsibility of caring for seniors unless those tasks are not needed. Pets are fine. I have a dog and understand the love people feel for their pets. My training includes CPR, First Aid, working with Dementia and Alzheimer patients, assisting with rehabilitation, and general hygiene for clients who can no longer bathe or dress by themselves.
I teach school full-time, but do enjoy being a caregiver late afternoons, early evenings, overnight when I can be at school on time in the mornings, weekends, and of course during the day as well during summer and most holidays. My references are available if requested and background checks are run routinely because of my teaching profession. I would love the opportunity to talk with you about caring for the special senior in your life and help make their life more rewarding.
