Hello and thank you for inquiring about Spicebush Montessori School! We are a micro-Montessori school located in Glen Mills, PA, serving families with children aged 3-6 years old. What We Offer: Spicebush Montessori School provides a comprehensive Montessori education tailored specifically for children aged 3 to 6 years old. Our program is designed to support the unique developmental needs of each child through individualized learning plans that foster their natural curiosity and growth. In addition to our academic year program, we also offer an engaging summer camp that blendsfun with educational activities, ensuring year-round learning and development. What Sets Us Apart: Our school stands out due to our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. We utilize a Family Individualized Tuition (FIT) model to ensure our Montessori education is available to families of varying income levels. We also offer transportation stipends to support families in need farther from the school and we offer subsidy to our lowest income families. Spicebush is Quaker-aligned and therefore aims to embody the Quaker values of SPICES: social justice, peace, inclusion, community, environment, and simplicity. Furthermore, our non-discrimination policy ensures that all children, regardless of race, gender, or background, have equal access to our programs and resources. We fully believe education should be limitless. Teaching Methods: At Spicebush Montessori, we adhere to the Montessori method, which emphasizes child-centered and child-directed learning within a carefully prepared environment. Our classroom features mixed-age groups, allowing children to learn from one another and develop strong social skills. The curriculum is supported by specially-educated teachers who observe each child’s development and introduce materials and activities that match their individual needs and interests. This approach helps children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Combined, the teacher leaders of Spicebush have over 20 years experience supporting children and are accredited by the American Montessori Society. Facilities: Our property sits on five acres of land shared by the Concord Friends Meeting House. Outside we have a large playground for children to use during school hours and families to visit after hours. We also have a community garden that the teachers, children, and families help maintain seasonally. The facilities are meticulously designed to create a "children’s house" that is both accessible and inviting. From child-sized tables and chairs to materials that are concrete, didactic, and self-correcting, every aspect of our environment is crafted to support independent exploration and learning. The high-quality, beautiful materials in our classrooms encourage children to engage with challenging concepts in a hands-on manner Additional Information: Spicebush Montessori School also offers summer camp for families after the school year ends. Our summer camps features themes such as farm life, gardening, and insect investigations, providing children with unique opportunities to explore nature and develop new interests. Hello Parents! Five Peas in a Pod is a very small in-home daycare that has been in operation since 1994. A little about me, my name is Angela and I'm a 44 year old married mom of two daughters ages 22 and 19 years old. My husband, Dan, is a teacher in our local school district. We have one Boston Terrier, Spencer, who just turned 6 years old. The children in my care do not have access to him although he is as friendly as can be. I currently provide care for three little girls, ages 5 years old, soon to be 3 years old, and soon to be 2 years old. The five year old has been with me since she was 18 months old. She will be leaving to join her older sisters at day camp in mid-June and will then move on to kindergarten in September. So as of July 5th I will have 1 full-time opening available. A. is the three year old and she has been with me since last June. I met her family through a mutual friend. M. is the youngest and has been with me since she was 10 weeks old. I met her family via another daycare site. We spend our days doing crafts, singing songs, reading books, playing with toys, & weather permitting we are outside every day. I have a nice assortment of outdoor climbers and slides as well as bikes. We also devote time to kindergarten readiness. B. is able to recognize and write her entire alphabet (both upper and lower case), spell and write her first and last name, count and write her numbers 1 through 100, she is able to identify most letter sounds with the exception of the vowels (but we still have time!), and she can complete patterns. Just if not more importantly, she has developed problem solving skills, is kind and considerate of those around her, is able to share and take turns, and is eager to learn. She is ready for kindergarten! I take this responsibility very seriously and enjoy finding creative ways to engage the children in learning. I've included a link to my Facebook page, here you'll get an idea of what we do every day. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange a visit. Thank you for your time!
