Years of Experience: 7 years teaching Location Options: In Studio, In Home, In Webcam Travel Radius: 25 Genres: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Keyboard and Piano Lessons Overview: Born in Coatbridge, Scotland I moved to Austin, Texas when I was 4 and have travelled back and forth. Music entered my life when I was twelve, and it has become an obsession ever since. When I was fourteen I began a routine of practicing guitar for 9 hours a day for 4 years. I followed the same principle when I began piano, I have now slowed down to 2 hours a day of each. I love all kinds of music, I have been in a Lamb of God cover band and I also play original folk songs around my community for parties and events. I have a wide taste in music and love sharing musical tastes and ideas with other musicians and people. Formal Education: In high school I was involved in the school choir and musicals. I was bass sections leader my junior year and section leader of all the men my senior year. These titles were accompanied by my lead roles in the school musicals and a choir presidency my senior year. I was given opportunities to instruct our choir (up to 150 students) on songs and accompany them on piano when our choir director was busy, or had to be absent for the day with separate ensembles. Private Education: I attended Dallas Baptist University my freshman year and excelled in my musical studies, I tested out of 5+ music courses before beginning to attend the school. These courses included Aural Skills, Music Theories, Piano Skills, and Piano Proficiency 1-5. By the time my freshman year was through I had reached the level of Junior within music courses, and had begun tutoring full time within the music lab, and private lessons. I am relocating back to Austin because after nearly a year away I realized that Austin was my home and it was where I wanted to pursue my musical education and career. Performing Experience: I'm involved in a church in which I have played guitar or piano every Sunday for the past 6 years (omitting my time away in Dallas), I also have experience in rock and folk venues. I have played at Antones and Emo's as a bass player and very small venues as a solo artist as well. I have been playing guitar and bass for nearly 7 years, and piano for 3 years. Experience Teaching: At Dallas Baptist University I was the main tutor for Music Theory and so I have a strong understanding of the functionality of music itself and I have learned to teach and communicate musical ideas to many different levels of learning.

    Josh's Music Lessons (Drum)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Austin, TX

Years of Experience: 1 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 20 Genres: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult Instruments Taught: Drum Lessons Overview: My interest in music first began as a kid listening to The Beatles. I loved it so much that I got my parents to enroll me in piano lessons at age 8. I played the piano and studied basic theory until I began to play percussion in the school band at age 12. My passion and dedication for music really began to grow throughout highschool as I became involved in drumline, jazz band, symphonic orchestra, percussion ensemble, musicals and any other group I could squeeze into. While attending the University of North Texas I was able to play with the Afro/Cuban, Brazilian, and Steel Pan ensembles as well as many local bands. A few of these bands had moderate success around Texas and even had songs featured on the radio. Over the past few years I've picked up the guitar and began to take an interest in songwriting as well, but my real passion has always been the drums. I am interested in all kinds of music from various places and backgrounds and am always open to learning more. Music is a gift that I love to share and have been successful at helping others discover their own talents. Formal Education: I have a bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Texas but played in the Afro/Cuban, Brazilian and Steel Pan ensembles. I took piano lessons from age 8 to 12 before switching to percussion. I played percussion throughout high school where I learned theory and earned several honors as AHS percussions of the year, several 1 rankings for UIL solo and ensemble, and played with the All Region Jazz Band under Jay Saunders. Private Education: I took private lessons for percussion throughout highschool. Some teachers were better than others, but one of my best was a former snare player for the Cavaliers. Performing Experience: I have been performing in formal recitals and and concerts from age 8 to 18. During high school and college I was able to start playing in my own groups outside of school and learn more about putting on an awesome show. I have played all throughout the DFW metroplex as well as parts of central and south Texas, and a handful of out of state gigs. I have performed as a percussionist and drumset player in rock, funk, jazz, blues, reggae and acoustic settings. I have also performed in Austin as a rhythm guitarist/vocalist for a couple of years as well. Experience Teaching: I have experience teaching formal lessons for about 6 months, but have seen my students grow a lot in a short amount of time. My real strength is not my musical background, but my ability to communicate clearly and adapt to different learning styles. I am all about going the extra distance to figure out how a student can best reach his or her goals.

William's Music Lessons (Guitar, Drum, Bass Guitar, Song Writing)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Austin, TX

Years of Experience: 10 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 25 Genres: Rock, Blues, Country, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Bass Guitar Lessons,Drum Lessons,Song Writing Lessons Overview: My name is William. I'm 18 years old and I have been a musician for 10 years. I started playing guitar in a program called Natural Ear Music without the use of tablature or written sheet music, learning songs by ear and playing them in bands with kids my own age. Needless to say, I believe the key to growing as a musician is training and developing relative pitch. With guidance and motivation, I know that anybody can learn to play the songs that they want to play. With the skills I learned at Natural Ear Music, I picked up other instruments such as Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboards, Harmonica, and Vocals. In High School I took two years of Music Theory and three years of Choral Music which extended my musical knowledge and taught me how to dissect compositions into basic parts. With everything I have learned in the last 10 years, I am confident in my skills to help kids learn and master their instrument of choice. Formal Education: I took two years of Music Theory and three years of Choral Music, Barbershop Quartet, and Show Choir in High School Private Education: I had minimal private lessons as a child, I was taught how to use my "natural ear" to play my guitar parts, as well as learning other kids' parts to match pitch. Performing Experience: I have been playing in and out of bands since I was 8 years old. Played at many Austin venues such as: Jovitas, Antone's, La Zona Rosa, Beerland, Stubb's, Red 7, The Mohawk, Alligator Grill, and many more. Experience Teaching: I gave my younger cousin guitar lessons for about a year or so. He had reached the point to where he was able to learn and play his own songs, and no longer needed my guidance. I have also brought friends over that know little to none about music, and have taught them drum or guitar parts well enough so that I was able to jam with them.

    Nuria's Music Lessons (Orchestral)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Austin, TX

Years of Experience: 6 Location Options: In Studio, In Home, In Webcam Travel Radius: 10 Genres: Classical, Musical Theater Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult, Under 6 Years Instruments Taught: Orchestral Lessons Overview: Hi there, my name is Nuria, I have studied in music conservatories for seventeen years, back in Spain, where I am from, and then in Amsterdam the Netherlands. I started when I was nine years old, and for the first ten years, I had the same flute teacher, until I started my Bachelor's at the age of 18. My first teacher focused all of her energy on ensuring that I developed my own musical identity. She guided me to create my own ways to study flute in order to make artistic choices and transmit that identity. Having such a teacher is the reason why I continued being a musician, and why I developed an intense passion for teaching. It also deeply influenced the kind of teacher I would become. I have been teaching for many years to students of all ages, from six-year-olds to adults. I have given lessons both to individual students and to small groups, and I have some experience in ensemble conducting see CV for details. Besides, having worked as a historical tour guide in Amsterdam and Utrecht has given me excellent training when it comes to speaking in public long periods each tour lasted about three hours and made me develop new systems to transmit content in an entertaining and effective way. I have always found a wonderful source of inspiration in every single student I have had. As a music teacher, I guide a student to discover their own potential, open doors of knowledge, and encourage them to look through those doors and dare to figure out the person they want to become. Each student has unique needs in that process, and empathizing with them at such a level constitutes for me the most captivating challenge. She is such a friendly person and clearly very passionate about flute and music studies. Her approach to teaching worked so well for me as she was very flexible. Instead of spending endless hours during scales and mouth posture, instead Nuria suggested we start learning a few pieces I could already read sheet music and the technical elements we would touch upon as we went. She has such a great way of expressing her thoughts and ideas and helped me visual things in my head that improved my sound. At Christmas she was more than happy to put on a santa hat and duet with me for a recording! What a cool person. Highly recommended. Name: Nuria Canales Rubio Date: 2022-04-18 17:45:37 Title: Malka Body: My daughter, Malka, took private music lessons from Ms. in Amsterdam over the course of roughly 10 months, from September 2017 till JuneAt that time, we were living in Amsterdam and my daughter, who is a classical flute player, was looking for a private instructor. We found Ms. via advertising on the internet. I can say without reservation that Ms. proved herself to be an outstanding teacher. She was punctual, professional, dedicated, compassionate, and imaginative in her approach to teaching my daughter. Under Ms.'s guidance, my daughter who was at the time made significant progress musically, which was not easy given that she was isolated from playing music with others. We were consistently impressed with Ms. 's work as Malka's teacher, and had we remained in Amsterdam, we would most certainly have continued working with her. I believe that her pedagogical approach, her overall professionalism, and her ability to communicate effectively with students, motivating them to improve through her combination of rigour, enthusiasm, and empathy, all make it abundantly clear that Ms. is a talented teacher.

My name is Alonzo. I’ve been a musician since I got my first guitar at 11. My favorite band is The Mars Volta. I’m an excellent bassist and guitar player. I have a few synthesizers I play, but I wouldn’t say my piano skills are worthy of teaching. I have my own band I’m getting up and running and I’m going to school for music production. I’ve been finding frustration working off jobs while going to school but it never hit me to work in music until this week. I’ve taught guitar before when I was stationed overseas in Japan. The MWR offered free guitar lessons to service members and their families and I volunteered to host it. I had classes of anywhere from 3-7 people twice a week in person. Mike's Music Lessons (Drum)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Austin, TX

Years of Experience: 2 Location Options: In Home Travel Radius: 10 Genres: Rock, Blues, Country Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Drum Lessons Overview: I'm 24 and I have a crazy passion for drums and music. I've been playing for 15 years and there's not a moment I don't have a smile on my face when I'm thinking about drums. My background is pretty diverse, in that I've played piano my whole life, as well as different brass instruments when I was in Middle and High School. I love listening to country music, as well as rock, pop, blues, funk, and RB. I'm laid back and friendly. Private Education: I've taken private lessons as long as I've been playing drums. In El Paso, Byron Mutnick taught me about the importance of fundamentals, and Ricky Malachi helped me learn to play different styles of drums. The 5 years I lived in Tucson were greatly enhanced by the teaching of Eric Truelove, who, both at his home studio and at his school of drumming, worked with me to build up my endurance, power, and confidence; and the teaching of Mike Burris, who helped me develop my musical theory and technique. Performing Experience: In Tucson, I played all over 4th Ave. in an alt-country trio, the Wayward Saints, and also got a chance to record an EP with them. I played in a rock cover band, Defcon 5, which, among other things, gave me the opportunity to play for hundreds of members of The National Guard and their families. Since moving to Austin (recently), I've had a brief stint playing drums for country artist, Leland Williams, in large dance halls around the Austin region. Experience Teaching: On a small level, I've been teaching for about 2 years, sometimes at students' houses, sometimes at mine. I've had around 10 students total.

My name is Cory. I’m 25 and have been a musician for 19 years. Music to me has always been the one thing I’ve always been self-driven and self-disciplined to pursue. My biggest influences for drums are Tommy Lee Motley Crue, Thomas Pridgen The Mars Volta, and Luke Holland The Word Alive; guitar: Slash Guns N’ Roses, Shakey Graves, Jimi Hendrix, and Leah Wellbum Slothrust My goal as a teacher is to inspire and nurture passion within the student. The teachers I had that spoke to me as equals and left me with insight into how to reinvent myself as an artist as well as helped me shape my playing and technical proficiency in a way that made me hunger to learn more were the ones that I’ll remember forever, so I hope to offer that to others. The world needs musicians. The perspective I have to offer is balanced, authentic, and therefore the student to expand upon. As a teacher, I believe nurturing the passion of the student is what supports their ethic and outlook on music for the rest of their life.
