About who needs care: Ideal Day: Awake by 8, shower and dress, review news and take morning medicine and enjoy a light breakfast of tea andyogurt and possibly toast with butter.
She has the beginnings of Dementia and doesn't drive anymore for that and her age. She does have her car and we drive her in it because it is familiar and she prefers it. When a respite care helper takes her to places for errands or visits with friends or excursions, that person would be asked to drive her care. As such, CDL and insurance would be required.
She still enjoys staying abreast of global and local events, but we try to minimize it as it can frustrate her having been involved with community programs and political and election projects. She loves to play cards, board games, brain teasers and puzzles. She needs encouragement to do her regular gentle daily exercises for her longevity and pain relief. She is eager for easy walks in the neighborhood or local walking areas in parks. She lost her dog a few years ago and hasn't walked as consistently as she used to enjoy. She likes to shop and see what the stores are carrying and generally only purchases small gifts for grand and great grand children. She enjoys sharing about her life and regaling people with stories and photo albums. She can get info funks when her social activities are curtailed so we are looking for an aid who is upbeat and engaging, offering mostly companionship and safely oversight and ensuring any hazards with her environment are identified and corrected or communicated so such can be addressed.
About the care needs: She is a charismatic person full of life but is slowing down against her strong will. She is optimistic in cheering others but is impacted by missing socializing. SO, we are looking for a cheerful, friendly, joyful and trustworthy person (preferably a woman) who can provide kind, helpful and encouraging companionship along with discreet but diligent safety oversight. Assist with medication reminders and verification that pills are being ingested regularly, as well as prescription refills upon request. She is adamant to stay at home and we want to provide her with that in the her familiar and comfortable environment. Her independence has been curtailed over the last 2 years and we want her to feel secure while contributing to the enhancement of her quality of life. We want to promote her health and safety, help with her enjoyment of interests and hobbies with a companion/caregiver. We also want a caregiver who is companionate, kind and genuinely caring, willing to gently and encourage her with her activities like exercise and social engagements.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance. ... more
