Tina's House

I am a 50 year old mother of two boys. I live in Northwest Bakersfield, the Riverlakes community. I have my Liberal Arts Degree with a minor in Sociology. I have been running my home child care for over 20 years. I started my business when my first son was a year old. I wanted to stay home and still provide for my family. My first son is now 24 and a graduate from CS Fullerton. My other son is 20 and works for the Norris School District an at In-Shape Health Club.

I have always taken the approach that the children in my care are part of my family. I watch children from 6 weeks to 3 years old. I lovingly encourage the children and parents to continue on to a preschool by the time they turn 3 years old. At that age, they are ready for a more structured and curriculum based program and I usually have them potty-trained.

I take pride in my business both because it is my home and because I care deeply about what I do. To me, child care really isn't "business" based, it is relationship based. The name of my business is "Tina's House" for a reason. I don't want the children to feel like they are going to a facility. They are coming to "Tina's House" to grow, develop and play in a safe and loving home.

My childcare is geared toward parents in the education field. I follow the school calendar, if the school is closed so am I. You only pay for the days I am open, and I hold your child's spot over summer break.
