About the business
I am a mother of 3 wonderful children with over 22 years experience in childcare. I have been state licensed for 19 years with First Aid and CPR certifications. I received a bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University in May 1991 and have coursework completed in Early Childhood Education from Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC). Before owning my own home daycare, I worked in the schools for 6 years.
At Lydia s Little Learners childcare, I am committed to providing the best quality care possible by providing a safe, loving, fun environment for the children. Play is the learning process that encourages a child s natural curiosity to explore their environment both indoors and outdoors. My program is structured in a way that allows flexibility to respond to the needs and interests of the children. Through both group and individual activities, each child is encouraged to develop socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically at his or her own rate. Every child regardless of their age is valued, respected, and recognized as a unique individual with a large capacity for growth and development. My daycare includes a wonderful preschool program as well as a stimulating hands-on environment to enjoy opportunities for learning through play, decision-making and social interaction with their peers. This allows your child to create, explore, and discover promoting a positive self-esteem, according to their own particular and unique interests. Children of all ages in my childcare are given opportunities to learn through experiences with stories, songs/music, art, science, dramatic play, sensory materials, number and letter activities and the outdoors.

Miss Lydia is an awesome childcare provider. My 2 children were in her daycare. She is very patient and amazing with the children. The children have a really good time while they are in her care. I would recommend her to anyone!

I have known Lydia for 10 years. She runs a wonderful daycare of any age. My children loved going there. Those negative comments below are false. I hope that potential parents looking for childcare actually read the accusations and realize they are wrong.

I have known Lydia for over 20 years. My daughter went to Miss Lydia's 15 years ago. She loved going to her then. Many times she didn't even want to come home because she was having so much fun. Miss Lydia is a great daycare provider who loves children and has been a wonderful friend to me for many, many years. I would recommend her to anyone!

My children loved going to Miss Lydia's house everyday. She is a wonderful childcare provider. My husband and I were very pleased with the care she gave to our children. Both of our children went to Miss Lydia's from infancy until 5 years of age. They were both well prepared for kindergarten. We would recommend Miss Lydia to anyone!

I had three children go to Miss Lydia for childcare. She is a very kind and caring person and provides a safe,nurturing environment for the children. Miss Lydia plans fun, enjoyable activities every day and has a curriculum that the children love to engage in. Weather permitting, She has a great fenced-in backyard for the children to have fun outside. I don't understand those other bad reviews because they are FALSE! Miss Lydia hasn't had anyone in her daycare that this person or people are describing. Her daycare is always full. My wife and I have been with her for a long time and she is not like what this person is saying about her. We would recommend her to anyone!

My son and daughter started to go to Miss Lydia's seven years ago and we all loved her. She was very kind, caring and very reliable. She was attentive to every child's needs. Miss Lydia had enjoyable, fun activities every day planned for the children. Both my children loved going to her each day. I would recommend her to anyone.

I commented earlier this year and want to make an addition to my comments. Like Steve's, Julia's, Corrie's and Jody's (all parents that I know personally) comments below, I have had nothing but an amazing experience sending my two kids to Ms Lydia's. She has been amazing with my kids and is incredibly helpful when things arise with my kids (sleep issues, problems with sharing, etc). All the kids in her care love her and love being at her house. My kids have been going since June 2016 and with her help, my kids have learned so much. Before we went to her, we had a really bad in home experience and we are truly blessed to have found her!
Please disregard the negative, troll feedback below. Ms Lydia is a great teacher and care provider! As an actual parent who sends both of my children here, I highly recommend her!!

Its staggering to me how childish and dishonest some people are reading some of these comments.
My name is Steve. My email is kromrays@yahoo.com. Im providing this because unlike some of the anonymous people posting completely untrue comments about Lydia's daycare behind anonymous profiles, Im happy to put my name and face to my comments.
My daughter has been attending Lydia's for almost 4 years now. I interact with Lydia multiple times a week and have for years. The environment at her home could not be more enriching, comfortable and professional than it is. From the little ones I see every day there to the 4 and 5 year olds about to start kindergarten, every child I know there is full of happy energy every time I am by the house.
Her entire day is dedicated 100% to the kids there and these people talking about "rude and disorganized" whatever are, for lack of a more friendly term, complete liars.
If anyone would like any more information from a parent who would send any child I have to Lydia based on her level of caring and professionalism, feel free to contact me. To the person using a fake, nameless profile to try and slander a person and a business Ive personally seen to be of the highest quality, that's pretty shameful. Just from being there daily, Ive seen virtually every child that's attended there and the situations described in some of these rude comments just are not true and never happened......Good luck Lydia, you'll always have my families support.

We have been using Lydia for over 3 years now and we absolutely love her!! I used a chiropractor during my pregnancy and he had recommended her. That was one of my best decisions. My girl just loves to go there and often asks to go there on my days off; which tells me I need to step it up. Lol. Lydia is one of the most caring, sweetest, and patient people around!! I'm very impressed with all the activities and projects that they get to do there. Her family is so kind and I would totally recommend her to anyone!! You will fall in love with her kindness and your child's stories of their day at her place. I will have to say that I can't believe the negative reviews on here. I don't know of any child that this could be. I believe they have the wrong person or they are trying to sabotage someone's livelihood in which she works so hard for!!! We love you Lydia!!

Ms. Lydia is amazing! My son was in her care for 3 years and now my daughter attends her home daycare. Lydia is an excellent teacher and has amazing curriculum.Lydia is so kind and caring as well. She is literally like family! She is super dependable. My son loves to visit when we pick up my daughter. Lydia has to be one of the most patient people we have met. I highly recommend her. Lydia was recommended to me over 5 years ago and her referrals were glowing.

Absolute 5 star rating. My child has been going to Lydia's for almost 3 years. I have complete faith and trust in Lydia. I don't understand the negative ratings in the last four months. There have been no walk throughs or new children in Lydia's daycare. Lydia is a generous, kind, extremely patient child care provider. Her and her family welcomes the children in their home as if it was one big family. Her education and sensory activities allow my child to experience things that I unfortunately don't have the time to do. She is a blessing to me and my child. I highly recommend her daycare.

Was hestiant about taking my child because the tour was weird and people I know said they weren't very good. Not giving me any details.I thought I would give them a try since they are in town from me and the daycare I really wanted to put her in wasn't ready for her for another month.
However, I didn't get a receipt when I paid my week. The Monday morning I dropped her off and pretty much every morning the Lydia lady there was on her phone and they kept her in the big room until the other room showed up. Didn't complete her day correctly nor could they follow directions on what to feed my child. She was only there a week and I wouldn't recommend this place to no one. THe Director NEVER contacted me to welcome me asked me any questions. I thought at one point during my first week the owner would welcome me and/or make sure I was good with the care I was receiving?! Just not professional to me.

I'm sorry but once again I can't believe this review. As I explained in your review given on April 1st, my daycare has been full and no new walk-throughs have been given since last June 2016. In your last review, you stated that I dealt with your son, now you are stating that you enrolled your daughter. I have not had your child or children in my daycare.
As always, I am very informative on my first meeting of parents that I give. I also give the parents a handout about my daycare as a reference and welcome any questions that parents may have at anytime. Potential and existing parents are always welcome in my home.

As I have said in the other reviews, my daycare has been full for the last year. I haven't had any new children, walk-throughs, or parents of any child with the name "Zara" in my daycare. My kids have been going here for about 10 months. We have never had any issues and Ms. Lydia has always been willing to work with us if the kids need any additional attention on a certain day. My daughter is always very excited on the days that she goes here. She has learned so much from education lesson plan that Ms. Lydia has for the kids. Also, I hear about how much fun they have dancing and singing and baking! The only bummer is that her hours only go to 5pm but I completely understand why she can't go later. I am still happy we found her and am pleased with the care our kids get.

I chose the daycare because I really thought it was a good place after hearing from a friend. I could not get in touch with Lydia for a while week. She was not friendly at all. This place is all for making money without giving a hoot about your children.

I am certainly not just in this for the money. I have invested a lot back into the daycare, specifically for the benefit of the children. This daycare was awful. The owner is very bias and if your kid is even the least bit active and non-conforming she will not treat them the same as they treat the other children. Incredibly rude and difficult and repeatedly told me my child had ADHD because he didn't sit down and be quiet every second of the day.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this review. My daycare has been full and haven't had anyone new since last June, so I have not had your child in my daycare. Therefore, I haven't had any conversation with you about your child. I love working with children. I am not a bias or a rude person. I really care for each child that I have. I understand that every child is different. I accept and encourage each child's individuality.
