About
FRIENDS Association for Children began in 1871 as an orphanage in historic Jackson Ward. One of our centers still resides on the same property in Jackson Ward. A second center is located just north of the historic Church Hill area. FRIENDS serveschildren, ages six weeks to 17 years of age, with a broad array of services. Through these services, children gain critical literacy and developmental skills needed to succeed in school and in life.
