People are social beings. It's an innate trait, undeniable, and inescapable, seated deep in the brain. When we don't socialize, people lose emotional feeling, recognition of the emotional significance of family and friends, and any concept of social worlds. In essence, isolation breeds loneliness, sorrow, tears, and a magnitude of loss.
Daisy's Companions bridge that gap. We are a non-medical provider that caters to elderly, disabled and home bound clients. What we provide is companionship. A relief from solitude, isolation, and seclusion that often accompany being disabled or elderly.
Daisy's Companions engage our clients by doing activities together such as:
Listening to music; Tossing balls; Coloring pictures;
Clipping coupons;
Reading out loud chapters of favorite stories;
Stringing beads; knitting;
Baking cookies; Taking photos and creating collages;
Planting seeds indoors or outdoors;
Looking at family photographs;
Weeding the flowerbed or tending to the garden;
Having Companions visit with well-behaved pets;
Having discussions about childhood books or cartoon characters;
Sorting objects by shape or color;
Making homemade ice cream;
Having conversations about past memories;
Making scrapbooks;
Having afternoon tea parties;
Looking at a maps of the United States and identifying states and capitals;
Making family tree posters;
Eating picnic lunches outside;
