About the business
I have an Associates in ECD from Columbus State. I also have been in the business for over 8 years. Have my First Aid for Infants and Children, along with my Child Abuse and CPR, all for infants and children.
I have renovated my basement to be an exciting playroom for the children. I have toys for all ages. I have a son who is 8 so he has toys from when he was smaller, as well as now.
I believe that an In-Home center is better for children because we have low ratio's and individualized attention. My son is going to be staying home to do school and so I thought it would be a great time to put my knowledge to work. I had been going to school, at the center I was at, and no one else did. I was made to do things there that were not developmentally appropriate and I was uncomfortable with that. Plus they worked the system and would not do things correctly but around the parents that were interviewing to bring in their children, they would and I knew that was not OK. So I decided to start my own in home care so I could do things that I had learned and wanted to pass on to the children that would be in my care.
I love kids and have 2 dogs that also love children. They are not always part of the learning curriculum but they can be loved and pet.
We take many field trips, as I love the outdoors and feel children should get outside and get exercise as much as possible, although we will be doing exercises inside when the weather does not allow us to get outdoors. Music, science, math, language arts, reading and anything else the children are interested in, is what I will plan for the week. Each week will be a different subject, if the children allow. If not, then we will be studying the same topic until they want to change.
We learn through play, so allow much play time and imagination usage here.
I will always keep parents updated on events and topics of the week, and behavioral issues. Also, lunch will be a healthy food that has the food groups in it, to satisfy the hunger of a busy child.
I believe that we can make it work and learn as much as, if not more than, other children in an a big daycare.
Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day.
