I am a Princeton University Alumna with a degree in Cultural Anthropology and extensive coursework and training in early childhood development. I am the former owner of the legendary Tiger Hall Play Zone which used to be on 206 in the plaza with Mayflower Cleaners. It was a funky preschool and play center hybrid. The page is still active and it gives you an idea about the former spirit of that well loved place. I sold it in the fall of 2013 in order to work on some bigger ventures outside of NJ. Unfortunately, the new owners went out of business shortly after the sale... I now own a larger center in Upstate New York called The Polka Dot Place. It is in a commercial strip mall and licensed for 38 children. I manage it from afar. The pitfall of owning such a large center that is so far away is that I am no longer interacting with children on a daily basis which has always been my passion. My eldest daughter grew up in Tiger Hall for 7 years. All of her best friends are former Tiger Hallers because they grew up together side by side. We went on field trips nearly every day, and like Ms. Frizzle and her gang from The Magic School bus we had a whole lot of hands on fun (and a pet lizard too!). I am hoping to form another tiny pod of children that can stick together from infancy/toddlerdom up to or even beyond Kindergarten (I also homeschool and provide homeschooling services). I have several references from reputable and even celebrity clientele. I offer a top notch service with a focus on the whole child and with a unique focus on personal responsibility and civility. We are a small, personalized center offering lots of flexibility, no contract, free hot lunch and diapering supplies. Princeton Community Family Learning Center (PCFLC) is a small center with only 36 children total and 8 amazing teacher-caregivers. Nestled on the Princeton countryside near the Herrontown Woods, we are still only 2 miles from the Princeton University main gate. PCFLC is located on the grounds of the lovely and expansive All Saints' Church campus, though we are NOT a religious-based program. We are a faith-neutral program and celebrate diversity. We offer flexibility, affordability and a personal approach to every family we serve. There is no registration fee or long-term contract. We view each family as unique, and work hard to accommodate your specific needs. We offer both a preschool experience and/or all-day coverage. Children's schedules range from 3 hours, two days a week (part-time preschool) to full-time days with extended care. We accept children as young as 18 months and up to 6 years. Three big, bright, naturally-lit classrooms accommodate the different age groups as well as two gymnasium/all-purpose rooms. We have a lovely, large, fenced-in playground surrounded by shade trees for outdoor play. We strive to serve local families in every capacity we can, often providing after-school care for children who attend the local public schools as well as drop-in care for children when the family's nanny needs a break. The curriculum for children 18 months to 5 years is "My Big World" fully supported by Scholastic and creatively developed by PCFLC teachers. Five-year-olds showing readiness to engage in our kindergarten curriculum are welcome to do so. Both curriculum's can be viewed on our website. We offer complementary hot lunch and diapering supplies. It is our pleasure to serve a hot meal every day free of charge, which always includes a vegetarian alternative.
