Community Adventures Preschool

3618 Bernwood Place. San Diego, CA

7 mi

Community Adventures Preschool is a licensed home-based preschool, located in the Carmel Valley neighborhood of San Diego, California. We maintain, at most, a 1:6 ratio so your child receives the individual care and education they deserve with an emphasis on social and emotional development. Our ratio is 1:3 or 1:4 in the mornings for our community adventures. An integral part of our program is the time we spend out and about in our community. Each day the children have the opportunity to explore nature and continue to develop their sense of curiosity about the world. Our space is within walking distance of a neighborhood park where the children have the freedom to play, explore, and get dirty. We are also within walking distance of a bluff and grassy area that overlooks the ocean, a library, multiple stores and restaurants, an elementary school, and more. We are active participants in the larger community around us. During these adventures, we maintain a 1:4 or lower ratio for the safety of the children. Our approach is play-based and we are inspired by the Reggio and RIE philosophies. Our curriculum is emergent - we believe children learn best when the curriculum is designed around their interests and they have the ability to freely explore and gain hands-on experience at their own pace. Our indoor environment is full of open-ended objects for children to develop their creativity and imagination. Our goal is to inspire a love of learning, rather than focusing on memorization. Our current program is designed for children 2 1/2 - 4 years old. We are open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30AM to 4:30PM. We offer extended hours for an additional fee.

• Philosophy of my Childcare is for children to learn: - How to live in a peaceable environment. SOLVING). - How to resolve conflict peacefully (PROBLEM - How to appreciate diversity. - How their ideas are unique. - How to feel safe and confident _ promote their creative mind Learning how to live with others peacefully is an enormous challenge for all of us. The best time to begin this is from first year of life. The society is bombarding children with violence and undermining their development of positive social skills. At my childcare environment, everything is built around the child’s need in a very safe, nurturing, and comfortable relationship based on their individual needs. This program is very stimulating in areas of physical development, intellectual, social interaction, and emotional expression. Problem solving is the way to teach children to resolve conflicts by self- control, and be respectful to others, so this will happen through; ACTIVE LISTENING, NEGOTIATION, SETTING LIMITS, and AFFIR MATION. Active listening: Let children to express themselves, and think about their problem. Negotiation: Helps them listen to each other, and work together in a conflict situation. Setting Limits: To stay safe, and not to harm each other. Affirmation: Children need to know they are important as well as their words and emotions. It is essential for children to enjoy their environment (home, childcare setting, school...).Then they stretch their capacities for learning and use their intelligence Home Child Care is a form of self-employment that has no room for expansion due to licensing regulations. Unlike other businesses, there are no benefits like: retirement plan, health insurance, annual raises, or paid sick days. Childcare.

Nicole P

1770 Grand Ave., APT. C San Diego, CA

4 mi

Hi parents! My name is Nicole, and I am 27 years old. I am an alumni of the University of San Diego (USD). I majored in psychology and minored in philosophy. I am enthusiastically looking for a family who is in need of a live-in nanny/ sitter/mother's helper/ errand runner! I am available to begin work February 16th, 2016. Background Info: I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas (so, yes, I do say the word "y'all" quite often)! I moved to San Diego, CA, in January 2007 to attend the USD. I spent six weeks in the summer of 2008 studying abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico, trying my best to perfect my Spanish. I consider myself to be fairly proficient in Spanish. I am mentioning this because I have always loved teaching people, no matter what age, and I would be more than willing to help your kid(s) engage in learning Spanish. I also play the piano. I took piano lessons for 12 years. In fact, I still have all my piano books from when I first began lessons (in first grade), so if you have a piano, I would be more than delighted to teach your children how to read music and play the piano. Ever since I can remember, I have always adored children. I love learning, and I think that may be one reason why I tend to relate to children so well. Kids are always wanting to learn, and they are never afraid to ask questions, such as why? and how come? I have always admired this. Too often, it seems as though people stop asking all the questions they want to know the answers to as they get older, and I feel this is terribly unfortunate. I began volunteering as a junior camp counselor throughout the summer preceding my sixth grade year, and I continued to volunteer there throughout middle school. This led me to complete a total of 900 hours of community service. Furthermore, I began being paid baby sitter when I was 12 years old. The summer leading into my freshman year of high school I cared for a family with three little girls, ages 6 months, 3 years old and 4 1/2 years old. With that being said, I have had much experience looking after multiple kids of different ages at the same time for an extended time. Moreover, when I was 14 years old, I began volunteering at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, where I became "sitter trained" and "child-life trained," which was mandated in order for me to become a qualified, certified sitter according to the hospital's standards. I am also CPR, AED, & First Aid certified for infants, adolescents, & adults.

Stefanie B. says "Nicole interviewed with me for a position that I did not end up filling. I was highly impressed with her communication skills in person, via email, etc....

Wendy Stephens Little Steps

My daycare is small with a maximum of 8 children and two adults so your child will get the individual attention he or she needs. WEBSITE: https://littlestepsdaycare.shutterfly.com PASSWORD= littlesteps 6 yrs experience with in-home daycare, several years experience working with children ages 5 and under. Many references available upon request CPR/First Aid certified Insured More about my Little Steps Daycare and me: I am a former preschool teacher. I have taken all the necessary early childhood requirements for a preschool teaching certificate. I have worked at Baldwin Academy in Pacific Beach as a lead teacher for the 3-year-old class. I have experience in developing an academic plan for all ages according to their developmental stage, including toilet training. I also have worked for SAY San Diego, an after school program for elementary schools. For a time, I stopped teaching and went into the corporate world. I quit the corporate world to open a home daycare to provide the structured, positive environment I wanted for my children that seemed so hard to find in most in home daycares. A family childcare program should include a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, a mix of structured and unstructured activities, and be a loving environment--and my Little Steps Daycare is all of these things. I love all of my children in my daycare as if they were my own and want to ensure they have the best early years possible. (Three of my children are now successful students in elementary school and one is entering kindergarten.) I have switched my cleaning product to a natural much safer product. I am concerned with the chemicals that we use in our daily cleaning products. I am now using Melaleuca. "Melaleuca is serious about getting harmful and toxic ingredients out of your home. Melaleuca cleaning products use the best of science and nature to combine for the safest most effective cleaning." If you are interested in getting greener and healthier products let me know. Looking forward to helping your baby grow into a successful and confidant child. Wendy
