I am a student on my path to pursuing a master's degree in occupational therapy to help better the lives of children with special needs. I worked at a children's gym for four years, teaching motor skill development to children 10 months old to 12 years old. Working at gym reaffirmed my passion for working with children, being active and helping people. Most recently, I worked as a nanny for a family with a special needs child. The young boy is autistic and I worked closely with his aides to integrate a training program in his daily life. I found this experience extremely rewarding and it served as a reminder of why I want to be an occupational therapist.
