We 've lived here for about 8 years and have several neighbors with kids in Waynesville Schools. I have many years experience caring for and teaching children, beginning during my college summers when I was a summer camp counselor at Camp Campbell Gard in Hamilton, Ohio. I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Miami University, and loved doing part of my student teaching as a naturalist at Camp Kern. Since then I have worked as a naturalist at Camp Campbell Gard, substitute teacher, and as a teacher in a child care center before deciding to stay at home and home educate my children 17 years ago. My children are 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, and 19. The 19 year old has graduated from our home school and is finishing up her Bachelor's of Music while teaching piano, running her photography business, and working part time as a live-out nanny. I love to teach, and may be able to tutor your children while they are in my care if you desired. As I no longer have any baby-related items I would love to care children who no longer need cribs/baby swings, but will consider it if you think our family would be a good fit for you. I am laid-back but organized, patient but firm when needed, quiet and calm but encouraging and fun. I love doing hands-on activities with kids, working alongside them, finding fun ways to teach things, reading to them, exploring nature with them watching them and listening to their funny stories. I provide healthy foods (for the most part!), which includes whole grains, fruits and veggies, quality meat and no or limited amounts of food dyes, high-fructose corn syrup, MSG, nitrates/nitrites, hydrogenated oils. I would love to include your children in our everyday activities planned for this summer: read alouds, library visits, summer book club, parks, playgrounds, hiking, gardening, art/crafts, nature study, and free play...this all depends on what ages your kids are and what you 'd like for your kids, too. Will try to do free things, but if there are paid opportunities you 'd like for your kids we can talk about that, too.
