We do very little worksheets. Instead, we offer tactile means to explore the various academic concepts. Our reading program is developed to encourage emergent readers. When teaching letters and letter sounds, we present each letter in a whole-word format. We do NOT isolate letters in a letter-of-the-week program. That has proven to make it very difficult for preschoolers to learn how to read. Sight words are posted on our words walls as they are learned and reviewed. As a Christian preschool, we have developed our own Bible curriculum centered around a Character Trait and Bible verse each month. All of the lessons and Bible stories are centered around that character trait. This affords the teachers, as well as the students, many ways to directly implement that month's trait in the classroom.
