Welcome to Coronado Montessori! Our school provides a superior early childhood education based on the philosophy developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, in a loving, safe, family environment. Coronado Montessori offers classes for Toddlers (ages 18 months-3), Pre-primary (ages 3-5), Primary (Ages 5 –6) and Elementary (1st through 3rd). We are the sister school to Escuela Montessori and Sun Country Montessori. After the successful start in 1974 and the first years of Escuela Montessori the Filley Family saw the need of another location to serve the community of El Paso closer to the mountain. In 1980 Coronado Montessori was beginning to be built and opened their doors in August of 1981. Coronado Montessori consists of 4 classrooms and 7,500 square feet. The school is located on ¾ of an acre of land in El Paso’s beautiful Westside and is a hidden treasure. The Franklin Mountains in front of the buildings create a stunning backdrop for the school. We have endeavored to remain true to the desert landscaping and beauty of our region. We average about 75-80 students ranging in age from 18 months to 10 years old. During the spring and summer, children help tend vegetable, flower and herb gardens scattered about the school grounds. The children are exposed to our resident hens that reside in their coops and provide us with organic eggs daily that are used not only used in our classrooms and sent home for our families to enjoy. Our school year runs from September to June, and we offer a fun and exciting camp during the remaining months of summer. At Coronado Montessori, we believe that an exciting and stimulating outdoor environment is equally as important as that inside the classroom.
