Later, I continued studying, becoming very interested in punk, alternative, and metal music. At the University of Arizona in Tucson, I studied classical guitar and music theory, as well as piano, voice choral and solo, composition, conducting, and minored in Spanish language. I am fluent in Spanish thanks to my Cuban father speaking Spanish with me since childhood. Later, I traveled North America and Europe, attending music festivals and studying for eleven months in Vigo, a city in northwestern Spain. I returned to Tucson in 2019 and finished my master's degree in music theory, and moved to East Austin in 2023 to pursue a career in music full-time. I currently perform in town as a solo classical guitarist, performing both classical music and arrangements of popular tunes. Furthermore, I compose original music. Music entered my life when I was twelve, and it has become an obsession ever since. When I was fourteen I began a routine of practicing guitar for 9 hours a day for 4 years. I followed the same principle when I began piano, I have now slowed down to 2 hours a day of each. I love all kinds of music, I have been in a Lamb of God cover band and I also play original folk songs around my community for parties and events. I have a wide taste in music and love sharing musical tastes and ideas with other musicians and people. Formal Education: In high school I was involved in the school choir and musicals. I was bass sections leader my junior year and section leader of all the men my senior year. These titles were accompanied by my lead roles in the school musicals and a choir presidency my senior year. I was given opportunities to instruct our choir (up to 150 students) on songs and accompany them on piano when our choir director was busy, or had to be absent for the day with separate ensembles. Private Education: I attended Dallas Baptist University my freshman year and excelled in my musical studies, I tested out of 5+ music courses before beginning to attend the school. These courses included Aural Skills, Music Theories, Piano Skills, and Piano Proficiency 1-5. By the time my freshman year was through I had reached the level of Junior within music courses, and had begun tutoring full time within the music lab, and private lessons. I am relocating back to Austin because after nearly a year away I realized that Austin was my home and it was where I wanted to pursue my musical education and career. Performing Experience: I'm involved in a church in which I have played guitar or piano every Sunday for the past 6 years (omitting my time away in Dallas), I also have experience in rock and folk venues. I have played at Antones and Emo's as a bass player and very small venues as a solo artist as well. I have been playing guitar and bass for nearly 7 years, and piano for 3 years. Experience Teaching: At Dallas Baptist University I was the main tutor for Music Theory and so I have a strong understanding of the functionality of music itself and I have learned to teach and communicate musical ideas to many different levels of learning.

I’ve been finding frustration working off jobs while going to school but it never hit me to work in music until this week. I’ve taught guitar before when I was stationed overseas in Japan. My background is pretty diverse, in that I've played piano my whole life, as well as different brass instruments when I was in Middle and High School. I love listening to country music, as well as rock, pop, blues, funk, and RB. I'm laid back and friendly. Private Education: I've taken private lessons as long as I've been playing drums. In El Paso, Byron Mutnick taught me about the importance of fundamentals, and Ricky Malachi helped me learn to play different styles of drums. The 5 years I lived in Tucson were greatly enhanced by the teaching of Eric Truelove, who, both at his home studio and at his school of drumming, worked with me to build up my endurance, power, and confidence; and the teaching of Mike Burris, who helped me develop my musical theory and technique. Performing Experience: In Tucson, I played all over 4th Ave. in an alt-country trio, the Wayward Saints, and also got a chance to record an EP with them. I played in a rock cover band, Defcon 5, which, among other things, gave me the opportunity to play for hundreds of members of The National Guard and their families. Since moving to Austin (recently), I've had a brief stint playing drums for country artist, Leland Williams, in large dance halls around the Austin region. I played percussion throughout high school where I learned theory and earned several honors as AHS percussions of the year, several 1 rankings for UIL solo and ensemble, and played with the All Region Jazz Band under Jay Saunders. Private Education: I took private lessons for percussion throughout highschool. Some teachers were better than others, but one of my best was a former snare player for the Cavaliers. Performing Experience: I have been performing in formal recitals and and concerts from age 8 to 18. During high school and college I was able to start playing in my own groups outside of school and learn more about putting on an awesome show. I have played all throughout the DFW metroplex as well as parts of central and south Texas, and a handful of out of state gigs. I have performed as a percussionist and drumset player in rock, funk, jazz, blues, reggae and acoustic settings. I have also performed in Austin as a rhythm guitarist/vocalist for a couple of years as well.
