Mrs. Stone's Home Daycare

503 Sherman Ave. Hopewell, VA

< 1 mi

Hello! My name is Amanda. My husband is in the military at Fort Lee, and I am a stay-at-home-mom looking to make a bit of income and have a playmate for my daughter, Julia, who just turned one-year old this September! I live in Hopewell, VA. I started taking care of children about 15 years ago. I have worked as an elementary school Teacher's Aide, babysitter, Sunday school teacher, and piano teacher. I am a Christian. I don't smoke. I have no criminal record (to prove it I used to work in Killeen ISD with children and that's not possible if one has a record). I am CPR certified. No cats. No dogs. I'm fine with any age of child. I am very comfortable with making lunch and snacks for your child if you don't pack one in advance, however, above the $100 per week, which is about $2.50/hour, I will require an extra $20/week if you would rather I provide lunch and snacks instead. With me, your children will have access to lots of toys, a playmate (me and my daughter), homework assistance, coloring (age appropriate), lunch, snacks, books, supervised trips to the playground across the street, movie day, naps or quiet time (as applicable), piano lessons (if desired), and a positive environment. I graduated from Texas State University with a music degree, and as I mentioned before, I teach piano. If you're interested in your child (4+ years old) having a lesson once a week, and being able to practice piano daily in my home, I will give you a 50% discount for lessons ($10 for one lesson per week + the cost of books). Ideally, I would prefer to watch children in my home, but if you live in the next city over, we could talk, possibly meet, and go from there. If you are military, I live about 15-20 minutes from Fort Lee and am much cheaper in price than the Child Development Center on post. Call today to set up a meet. Let's see if were a match.
I plan to open an in home daycare and I have an interest in babysitting children from the ages of four and up. I have years of experience in the education system and I will enjoy communicating to all parents who have an interest in their child's learning and having fun. I will provide a safe and secure environment so children can grow and learn. I will also create a developmentally appropriate curriculum for all ages that encompasses all facets of learning. I am committed to every family I serve and look forward to being a part of each child's success.

I have always loved children! Their sweet innocence deserves patience, nurturing and loving guidance. I've been taking care of babies since I was 7 when my little sister was born, although obviously my skills and abilities were limited then! I babysat for my aunt's and neighbor's children as a teenager, starting at age 13, and often for free because I enjoyed it. Since then, I have had 3 children of my own, ages 20, 7 and 4, and they are all joyful blessings to me! It has always puzzled me that some people get frustrated with fussy babies, because I find it easy to calm them. It's a process of elimination as to their unhappiness, so you simply have to check off all the boxes (hungry, soiled, bored, over-stimulated, sick, etc.) Whether babies or older children, I believe children need consistency and structure in a nurturing environment to thrive, as well as positive influences to guide them. As an adult, I have babysat off and on as needed, and all of my friends and family know that I am always available to them. I am now at the point in my life where I am able to offer myself on a part-time basis to assist others in caring for their children, so I have decided to register with Care.com in the hopes that I will be able to do so.
