I've spent the last eight years of my life committed to the care of children. My passion for making a positive impact on their lives led me to become a childcare provider. As a calm, friendly, and patient individual, I believe in open communication with parents through regular updates about their child's day. I follow the lead of parents when it comes to enforcing household rules. I enjoy playing a variety of games with kids, including outdoor sports, board games, and educational games that help them learn and grow. I hold a high school degree and have completed coursework in early child development. I'm certified in First Aid and CPR, and am also a Child Development Associate (CDA). In addition, I've taken several courses in early childhood education. I'm comfortable providing care for up to two children between the ages of 0 and 11. I'm also happy to help with cooking, light housekeeping, travel, and supervising children while they swim.
I'm a former New York City tenured school teacher and current social worker specializing in early childhood; so depending on your point of view I'm either the absolute best person to make a babysitter / Nanny rec or just a total nightmare of an opinionated woman! With that being said I have been through quite a few sitters in my brief and wondrous time as a parent and there is no doubt in my mind that Zaire is something truly special. I met Zaire (she often goes by Z) when I was working as a social work consultant at a daycare in East New York. She easily wrangled a classroom of spirited two-year-olds with a smile, a kind voice and humor like nothing I've ever witnessed. Since we were working together regularly we struck up a relationship based on our mutual experience and interest in an early childhood setting. I appreciated how Z constantly sought feedback and ways to improve her teaching, interactions, and relationships with both her kids and their caregivers. When Z left the daycare I immediately put in the back of my mind that she was somebody I needed to keep in my life. As soon as enough time had passed (to not have a potential conflict of interest) I reached out to her to see if she might be interested in doing some babysitting for our 2 girls (ages 1.5 and 4 at the time). our schedules aligned and instead of an occasional date night babysitter I swooped at the chance to make Z a part of our family and our primary full-time babysitter. Z has been with our family for many years at this point in various iterations including a nanny share in which she flawlessly met the needs of both infants, toddlers, and school-age children while managing the expectations of 4 full-time working parents. I have very strong opinions on sitters being on their phones or just generally ignoring the children in their care and Z has surpassed every single expectation both me and my partner have had of what a loving, caring babysitter should look like. Z treats our children like her own which means both utilizing her own inherent strengths while also incorporating our parenting preferences. For example we are talkers in our household and deeply believe that children should be involved as developmentally appropriate in both their choices and the consequences of those choices. Zaire is both loving and firm - a perfect blend for the type of discipline and care we are looking for. We trust her beyond any shadow of a doubt that our children are not simply just safe but thriving and interacting with a grown-up who understands who they are and what they need. The only reason we are losing Z, not from our lives, just as our primary babysitter Is that we recognize that we cannot keep her as full-time since both of our children are now in school. Z has even asked us for a 360 review come the holiday time, she leaves our house in a better condition than she found it (expects our children to act independently and collaboratively heping to take care of our home, their toys, and others) and just straight-up seems to enjoy the company of little humans. Every Nanny posting claims their sitter is "the world's best" and I'm just a stranger on the internet but if this has felt resonant whatsoever I really do use the moniker that Zaire is the greatest sitter we have ever known and that YOU would be truly lucky to work with her and have your children in her care.
