About Xochitl

Hi! My name is Xochitl (so-chi) . I am currently a college student at Illinois State University, studying Bilingual Elementary Education! I have experience working with kids in different roles. During my Golden Apple Scholar Internship, I worked with teachers to create fun lesson plans and activities for students grades 1st through 6th! At After School Matters, I taught skills to other kids, which showed me how to connect with them. I also volunteer at Northwest Community Church when I am back home from school, where I work with children in the ministry. This experience helped me understand how to support and care for kids. I am adaptable and can adjust to different situations easily. I am also multilingual! I speak English and Spanish fluently. I have worked in busy environments, like retail and food service, which prepares me for the fast pace of caregiving. I have strong people skills, allowing me to create a friendly and safe space for kids.
