Valerie worked with our family for approximately one year. While she was on the job, she was warm, caring, and attentive to our children’s needs. She formed a genuine bond with them, ensured their safety, and treated them with kindness and respect. However, reliability and communication were ongoing concerns. There were frequent absences related to transportation and family emergencies. Additionally, Valerie ended her employment without notice and ceased all communication. This occurred on the first day I returned to work, following a three-week break during which she had ample opportunity to communicate her decision or provide notice, which she did not. While her care for the children themselves was meaningful, the lack of reliability, communication, and professionalism surrounding attendance and departure caused significant disruption for our family. Families considering Valerie should carefully weigh these factors when evaluating her for a childcare role.
