About Tess

Hello! I'm a patient and friendly tutor with a passion for helping students develop a love for learning and reach their full academic potential. I hold a M. A. in Ethics, Peace, and Human Rights and a B. A. in International Studies, both from American University. I have experience tutoring English and writing, history, civics/government/politics,, SAT and ACT prep, and personal organization and planning for students in middle and high school, and undergraduates. This includes the specific curriculum for AP World and AP US History, AP English Literature, AP Language Arts, AP Psychology, and AP Government and Politics. I can also help students write, edit, and polish essays for college admissions and scholarship applications. I have been a private online tutor for two years. I've also worked for three years at Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth with students aged 10-16 and as a substitute elementary school teacher.
