About Terry

I'd describe my personality as patient, flexible, and encouraging. I like tutoring because I find it rewarding to help others grow and achieve their potential. I believe tutoring provides a unique opportunity to be more personal in teaching a student than a classroom setting might provide, getting to know their learning style and helping them to better understand material they may struggle with. I started tutoring by helping my younger sister prepare for her GED test. We were homeschooled and she was behind on all subjects, particularly math, but I was determined to help her understand the material and succeed. Within a short amount of time, her scores on the practice exams improved significantly and she was able to pass the test for each subject on her first try. In my spare time, I like to draw or volunteer at the local animal shelter. I have always loved animals, so I consider it a great opportunity to be able to contribute to a cause that helps them find homes.
