I have watched my nephew for 12 years now 5 nights a week while my sister went to nursing school and then once she graduated I continued watching her 5 children plus her 1 special needs son at night as she decided to work nights to be able to spend more time with my nephew and making sure he adapted to school and to be a part of his education during the days. She did pay me for the time after she got out of school, the caretaking I did during her education I donated my time to her and my nephews and nieces to try to help her be able to get her degree in nursing. My nephew has speech impairment and has developed very slow, he is also on the spectrum but semi functioning. He will never live on his own but he has been able to grow and learn over the years enough to get a job at movie theater and he has this job now for 8 years, he is learning to drive. I am patient and understanding so teaching him to drive isn't an issue for me. It's been a long journey but it's ok
