About Surumya

Hey everyone! I'm Surumya-a psychologist-to-be and (mostly) math tutor. I'm currently in DC completing my PsyD internship. I've had my share of school struggles including tough teachers, hard subjects, and unmet accommodations. Thanks to some incredible mentors, I learned how to slow down, advocate for myself, and make learning work for me. I try to implement these characteristics to make learning fun and successful. I focus on building understanding and confidence, not just memorization. I use manipulatives, visuals, and interactive tools to make abstract concepts click. My goal is to help students understand the why, not just the how. With my psychology background, I can better support neurodiverse learners, interpret IEPs and neuropsych reports, and help families navigate accommodations and discover new ways to compensate for areas of grown. Sessions ideally take place at The Burton's quiet, Wi-Fi-equipped lobby. Agreed upon terms are covered in a contract at meet-and-greet.
