I'd say my personality is calm, creative, and consistent. I like working with kids because they are real in their emotions and interests. I love witnessing their growth and learning. I'm looking for a job that allows me to use my experience and education in early childhood, in a tangible, day-to-day manner with a family and their child or children. I value respectful communication, mutual appreciation, and a peaceful environment. I started working with kids 40 years ago, as an assistant teacher at Portland State University preschool. had a natural affinity for working creatively with them, nurturing and supporting them in their evolving world. In my spare time, I like to go dance with friends, volunteer at church, work in my garden, go on trips with my daughter. One thing you should know about me, i'm a very busy person. I would like to work for a family that needs a cook as well as nanny/cook. My skills include patience, consistency, and acceptance of a child's many ways of being.

I can’t recommend Sharalyn highly enough. When I returned to work full-time, my daughter was just over a year old, and like many parents, I was nervous about leaving her in someone else’s care for the first time. Thankfully, I found a local nanny-share that Sharalyn was running, and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. Sharalyn is not only a warm and nurturing caregiver, but also a professional early childhood educator, which gave me immediate confidence in the structure and thoughtfulness of the care environment. My daughter thrived under her guidance—engaged in age-appropriate activities, creative play, outdoor time, and social interaction with another child her age. The small group setting was perfect for building early social skills while still receiving lots of individual attention. One of the unexpected perks was that Sharalyn is also a private chef! Every day, she prepared fresh, nutritious, home-cooked meals and snacks for the kids—meaning I never had to worry about packing food (a huge help for a working parent). My daughter always ate well and was exposed to a variety of healthy foods. We were part of the nanny-share on a part-time basis for a little over a year, and during that time, my daughter formed a strong bond with Sharalyn. She felt safe, loved, and excited to go each day—which speaks volumes. I’m so grateful we found her and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to other families looking for reliable, thoughtful, and loving care for their little ones.
