I grew up with dogs and have one of my own and love them! I've had dogs from small breed (Shitzus) to large breed (Mastiffs) and everywhere in-between. My current pup is a Blue Heeler who's very smart and needs lots of attention so I am quite comfortable continuing what you've set up and helping with things like leash training or basic commands. I am also comfortable with cats and have one myself.
