Experience: 10 yrs
I am a former kindergarten and first grade educator, adjunct professor of early childhood education, and I am currently a private tutor and behavior analyst. I have 20 years experience working with young children. Sessions are 1-2 times a week for an hour each session, in your child's home, or remote if appropriate. I tutor children in reading comprehension, reading fluency, phonics, spelling, writing composition, handwriting, numeracy, addition and subtraction, and other math content. I have extensive experience working with special ed, Autism, and behavioral needs. All work with my clients is individualized and designed to support their particular skills and areas of need. I believe strongly that young children deserve play-based activities that are rooted in academic standards to both develop skills but also dispositions like critical thinking. Lots of the activities I use are hands-on, active learning games to enhance the joy in what we are doing in order to deepen their learning.
