I have been a caregiver and helper for many years. I was a nanny for a family for over 7 years and have also worked as a mental health worker with Lutheran Family Services and with Regions Hospital. I really love caregiving. These days I have been trained through and have been volunteering with the Allina hospice program. I find hospice philosophy to be wise in how it works with the whole family system, deeply compassionate and is inspiring me to extend the type of caregiving I provide. I find I have an aptitude to working with people living with dementia and with the elderly. I am gentle, patient and just a little bit playful. Every employer I have worked through has been pleased with the care I provide and I even have been 'unofficially adopted' by the family I was a nanny for. Although caregiving is not a flashy personal gift, it is what I am good at and it provides me with a satisfying sense of purpose and meaning.
