Nurturing young minds is more than a job for me; it's a calling. My 15+ years of childcare & early childhood education experience have solidified my ambition to positively impact children's lives. I have practical experience as a preschool & kindergarten teacher, & as an art teacher for 10 years in Chicago as the founder/operator of a nonprofit community art school. I spent time homeschooling & found fulfillment in both (educational & caregiving) roles. I hold a BA in English & studied fine arts (pottery) at university. I'm told that I'm defined by my patience, adaptability, & creativity. I enjoy games, nature, & incorporating creativity, art & music into everything I do. I'm comfortable caring for up to four children at a time. I always respect family rules & communication styles. I am also comfortable around pets of all kinds. I have experience working with kids who are neurodivergent & kids with behavioral/cognitive disorders, & can provide references specific to those needs.

Sarah is wonderful! She has a fun and open spirit that just draws in children and adults alike. She has a background in teaching, art and childcare, making her a uniquely qualified choice. We hired her for a summer to give our 5 year old twins a break from the daily rat race of going to school or a summer camp. I wanted them to have the kind of summer I had as a kid. Sleep in if they want. Play in sprinklers or community pool. Get creative with crafts at home. Just generally a low stress no rush kind of summer. But still learning, being fed nutritiously, and experiencing. My son is on the spectrum and my daughter is a sensitive child, so they each have their challenges. They took to her immediately. She has a way of teaching them new things and life skills that makes it fun and enjoyable for them to participate. They absolutely adore her. Honestly, I look forward to seeing her too. As our summer is coming to an end, we are trying find ways just to keep her in our kids lives. She’s a great person to add to your village.
