About Rebecca

I specialize in virtually teaching struggling readers in grades 6-12 and adults who are incarcerated. I've worked in literacy since 2019 with students who have fallen years behind, including people who have spent years hiding how difficult reading is for them. I teach using the patented TIPS reading system-what I call , training wheels for the alphabet. TIPS makes the sounds in words visible, taking the guessing out of reading and helping learners build a strong foundation. My approach is patient, encouraging, and completely judgment-free. Being behind in reading does not mean someone isn't intelligent or capable. Sometimes they simply never received instruction that worked for them. For incarcerated learners, I can tutor your loved one virtually when their facility allows access. For teens, we rebuild reading without making the material feel childish. It is never too late to learn to read. We start where you are and build from there.
