I enjoy seniors and the life experiences and wisdom they can give us. Sometimes what they need the most is to talk and reminisce about their past with a caring companion who has time to listen and learn. I was a part-time caregiver for a dear 87-year-old widow who needed her breakfast made, help with her exercises and light housekeeping. The best part of the job was our talks over coffee at the kitchen table. I got to know her and she got to know me on a personal level. We became great friends. I also was the main caregiver for my 88-year-old mother as she succumbed to Parkinson's with Dementia over her last two years of life. It was challenging mentally, emotionally and physically. I learned so much about human suffering and how the spirit can still thrive while the body and mind fails. All of our elderly deserve our greatest respect and care in today's throw away society. That is my goal when providing care.
